This refrigeration and freezing plant installation is used by mechanical engineering students during practical training in heat transfer and energy engineering. The installation can cool and heat water and air, and can cool a glycol circuit to -25°C. The setup is connected to a buffer tank for hot and cold water, an evaporator in a freezing cell and an air-cooled condenser. All process values can be set and viewed via a 7″ touch screen and is controlled internally with Siemens PLC software developed in-house.
The students make calculations regarding for example COP, energy consumption, heat transfer, and loss analyses and can see how the theory can be applied in practice.
